How to create application in Salesforce?

Hope you all have a free developer account created. If you have not, then please go through our post regarding creating developer account. Salesforce offers two types of applications, Standard & Custom. In this post we are going to create a simple custom application on Salesforce. From now onward, I will show all the configuration customization on this application. So lets start by creating our first Application.

What exactly an application is?
A Salesforce application can be considered as a box containing all of the objects, tabs, process and services that drives your business application.

Steps to create an application
1. After logging into your account, click on "Apps" from create option from sidebar.

2. You can edit the exisitng standard application from here. For now we have to create new one so click on "New" button.

3. Select "Custom App" and click on "Next". We will see what the "Console" app is.

4. Enter App label, App name and description. Click on "Next".

5. You can insert your own logo. For this you need to upload logo in document object. You can follow this post (Not yet published) to do this. Else just click on "Next".

6. Select and shift those tabs that you would like to see on menu bar. Set default landing tab.

7. Set profiles to which this application will be available. Right now we are System Administrator, at least check for this profile. Click on Save.

8. Now drop down top app picklist to select the app that you have just created.

Great, Now you are ready to go for development on Salesforce.
